All of the rooms are light, bright and spacious. Furnished in subtle, neutral tones with an accent of colour in each room making the cottage feel uncluttered, fresh and above all romantic.

The sitting room: The half glazed front door enters into the south facing sitting room.
It has a window which looks out to the small front garden and across the valley to the River Gwyrfai, Mynedd Mawr and the Welsh Highland Railway. It is a light and bright room with original, exposed beams to the ceiling and a large Inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove for cosy evenings in.
A comfy three seater sofabed and two arm chairs all with throws and scatter cushions, make this a great place to relax. Open shelves keep books and games, plants and treasures collected on our travels in the Indian Sub Continent and the walls are decorated with antique embroideries.
There's also a small writing desk and a pitch pine dresser which houses crockery and glassware along with decorative ceramics from Jaipur, North India. The rug and runner are hand knotted jute from a Fair Trade supplier in India. Curtains in the sitting room, as in the front bedroom are made from panels of reverse appliqué in two shades of white, all hand worked and absolutely gorgeous!
From the sitting room, a pitch pine open staircase leads to the first floor.

The kitchen: Located at the back of the cottage, it is a homely, cosey room with quarry tile flooring, it has a Smeg two oven range cooker, fridge and dishwasher. A 1940's dresser has ample storage for groceries and plenty of food storage containers. The dining table easily seats five, but can also be extended if necessary. The pantry houses a freezer, washing machine, microwave and the gas boiler. Here there's shelf space, a work surface and a place to keep walking shoes and coats. There's a rear access here, so if you come home after a hard day on the muddy hill, there's an outdoor sink to wash down and plenty of space in this pantry for hanging wet clothes and for storing wet boots.

Front bedroom: A kingsize, antique, rosewood four poster bed, from Kerela, South India dominates the bright front room. Bedside shelves have brackets of hand carved horses heads from Nepal. Two windows offer fabulous views toward the river and mountains. There's a built in wardrobe and large chest of drawers for storage. Bedside shelves have small glass lamps for reading. Bed linen is white with deep pink accessories and a hand stitched rug on the floor is from Kashmir. A coloured glass window with a red poppy design allows light from this room onto the landing.

Second Bedroom: This room has a high, beamed ceiling with two windows. One window can be used as an exit out to the garden terrace. There are two beds in here both antique, a double rosewood four poster bed from Tamil Nadu, and a single bed from Kerala in South India. We offer them both as singles as the big bed is an inch shorter than a standard bed giving you the chance to luxuriate in space! It is also quite high, so there is a stool to help you up! There is a small rosewood cupboard and hooks and pegs made from old ceramic tiles for hanging space on the wall and back of the door. There are bedside lamps and a deep pile hand knotted Tibetan carpet across the room.

Third bedroom: A steep stair leads to the third attic bedroom. The bed is a traditional Kerala design, low and solid. The legs are turned and hand painted with vegetable paints. The side table is made from a spare leg that was available! The colour scheme is rust and black leather. The rug is hand woven by refugees of the Gujarat earthquake of 2003, made from wool and dye with vegetable pigment. Two sky lights offer views of the back garden, and to keep the feeling as light as possible, the banister is constructed from glass and green oak. There are pegs for hanging on the back of the door and a large chest of drawers.

Bathroom: This is a jolly room, with a high ceiling and a nautical theme. There is a bath with hand held shower providing instant hot water, along side the usual fittings. There is a heated towel rail and storage cupboards under the wash basin.

Outside: There is a small, south facing garden at the front of the cottage with a bench to sit and admire the views. Tall hedges on either side of the garden offer a feeling of seclusion and privacy.
At the back of the cottage, the garden is one surprise after another!

There are a lot of steps as the garden is set on a terraced hill side and as you climb you visit a series of intimate spaces. A small terrace with pots plants and shrubs is reached first. This can also be accessed from the twin bedroom, a perfect place to take morning coffee. Further on, an old coal shed has been converted in to a sun room. Further up still, a shed which keeps garden tools and garden furniture is next to the gazebo and a winding path climbs on to a terraced garden with shrubs and a slate resting place, and a trail to the woodland gate. Now you are on the hillside!
